Today, on November 22nd, the winning bidder was announced for the PPP aimed at developing a 200 MW wind farm and 100 MW battery storage in the Karaozak and Beruniy districts of the Republic of Karakalpakstan.
This project is being implemented with the support of the European bank for reconstruction and development under the “Program for the Development and Provision of Advisory Services” for the development of a wind farm with a total capacity of 200 MW” (EBRD Phase 2).
International power producers showed interest in the project’s development. The results of the financial proposals’ opening were as follows:
1. The “ACWA POWER-Saudi Listed Joint Stock Company” (Saudi Arabia) proposed 4.09 US cents for 1 kWh of electricity generated at the wind farm, including the battery storage system.
2. The “Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company PJSC-Masdar” (BAA) proposed 4.99 US cents for the 1 kWh of electricity generated at the wind farm, including the battery storage system.
ACWA POWER-Saudi Listed Joint Stock Company was declared the tender’s winning bidder, and Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company PJSC – Masdar was named the tender’s reserved bidder.
The tender documents will undergo review and approval in the coming days by the Tender Commission with the support of the EBRD’s advisors.
The PPP tender was procured by the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade, and the JSC “National Electric Grids of Uzbekistan”.
Following the evaluation of the financial proposals based on the required criteria, the winning bidder for the project will be officially approved.
The project will include a 200 MW capacity wind farm in the Karaozak and Beruniy districts of the Republic of Karakalpakstan and a 100 MW capacity battery storage system for 1 hour.
The winning bidder for the tender will be responsible for designing, building, financing, and operating both the wind farm and the battery storage system.
