In accordance with the presidential decree PP-72 “On approval of the investment program of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2022-2026 and the introduction of new approaches and mechanisms for managing investment projects” dated December 30, 2021, JSC “Thermal Power Plants” supervised by the Ministry of Energy will implement several large investment projects.
In particular, it is planned to build and put into operation two combined-cycle plants with a total capacity of 900 MW at the Talimarjan TPP, two combined-cycle plants with a total capacity of 1,300 MW at the Navoi TPP, and two gas turbine units with a total capacity of 32 MW each (64 MW in total).
Commissioning schedule for new facilities:
- The next two combined cycle plants at the Talimarjan TPP with a total capacity of at least 900 MW in 2024;
- Commissioning two combined cycle plants with a capacity of 650 MW each at the third and fourth stages at the Navoi TPP in 2024-2025;
- Two gas turbines with a capacity of 32 MW each at the Tashkent TPP in 2023.
As a result of the input of these capacities, an additional 2,264 MW of capacity will be added to the energy system and 18.0 billion kWh of electricity will be generated per year.
Due to the high efficiency of the installations, 2.4 billion cubic meters of natural gas will be saved in 1 year. Due to the saved natural gas, 14.0 billion kWh of electricity will be generated in 1 year.
It is also worth noting that as a result, about 700 new jobs will be created.
