Alisher Sultanov, the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan, held talks with a Russian delegation headed by Viktor Vekselberg, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Renova Group of Companies and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Skolkovo Foundation.
The delegation also was also represented by the Heads of the Hevel Group of Companies, ComplexProm JSC, ROTEK JSC, Orgsintez Group JSC, Khimprom PJSC and Cifra LLC.
During the talks, future cooperation was discussed in establishing (i) a national oil and gas centre to create digital oil and gas fields (ii) cooperation in renewable/alternative energy sources in Uzbekistan and (iii) the supply of generating equipment.
The Renova group of companies is the largest private power producer in Russia, with 14 GW of installed capacity and operating in 20 regions of the Russian Federation. Having experienced the transformation of the Russian power industry and market structure, Renova noted it would share its experience with Uzbekistan and participate in solar power plant tenders. Renova also considered a possible joint production of solar panels in Uzbekistan, for domestic (Uzbek) usage.
The Ministry of Energy provided information on its ongoing energy reforms. The Minister noted the country’s interest in the deep processing of natural gas and diversifying production to areas of added value, such as polymers and synthetic fibres for the textile industry.
The Russian delegation offered to organise on-site familiarisation with their technologies and processes in the Russian Federation. An agreement was reached to establish a joint steering group and organise a visit to the facilities to familiarise and study the experience of Russian companies in all the above areas.
