As previously reported, among several major investment projects launched within the framework of the 3rd Tashkent International Investment Forum with the participation of our head of state, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, a new gas turbine unit with a total capacity of 64 MW was put into operation at the Tashkent Thermal Power Plants JSC. Today, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Uzbekistan, Takashi Hatori, and the head of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) office in our country, Bito Yoshibumi, visited this power facility.
The guests were accompanied by the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Chairman of the Board of JSC “Thermal Power Plants”.
Initially, the visitors familiarized themselves with the activities of enterprises that provide heat and electric energy to large districts of our capital, such as Mirabad, Yakkasarai, and Yunusabad. In particular, the guests acquainted themselves with the operation of new, modern, energy-efficient plants built in cooperation with the Japanese side.
The total cost of the project amounted to 115,7 million US dollars, with the Turkish company “Çalik Enerji” participating in its construction as a general contractor. A highly efficient gas turbine from the Japanese company “Mitsubishi” was installed here, which will allow the reduction of production costs by lowering fuel consumption. With the commissioning of the device, the energy center will produce an additional 515,6 million kilowatt-hours of electricity and 690,3 thousand Gcal of heat energy per year.
As part of the event, in accordance with Uzbek national traditions, a festive table was set for foreign partners, contractors, staff of the enterprise who contributed to the construction of the new energy facility, and veteran power engineers on the occasion of “May 9 - Day of Memory and Honor”.
